Centre urged to file plea on 9th Schedule ruling

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The Centre should file an appeal in the Supreme Court seeking a review of its recent ruling pertaining to the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti State president N. Murthy has said.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, he said the apex court's ruling was a threat to the spirit of social justice and freedom of expression. This would have an impact on the policy of reservation.

The decision would also create disharmony among the legislature, the executive and the judiciary, Mr. Murthy said.

The implications of the amendments will be discussed at a seminar being organised by the samiti on Friday at Gandhi Bhavan in Bangalore.
