BANGALORE: Nine Bills pending from last year will be introduced in the coming session of the legislature starting from Thursday.

Legislative Assembly Speaker Krishna told presspersons here on Monday that Governor T.N. Chaturvedi would address a joint session of the legislature on Friday at 11 a.m. The Assembly and Council would sit till February 15.

    Pending Bills

The pending bills to be introduced are the Karnataka Pawn Brokers (Amendment) Bill, the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurements (Amendment) Bill, the Karnataka Municipal Corporations and Certain Other Law (Amendment) Bill, the Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug Offenders and Slum Grabbers (Amendment) Bill, the Karnataka Money Lenders (Amendment) Bill, the Karnataka State Civil Services (Regulation of Transfer of Teachers) Bill, the Kaginele Development Authority Bill and the Karnataka Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill.

Mr. Krishna said MLAs had submitted 870 questions seeking answers from the Government on various subjects. Asked about the alleged computer scam, the Speaker said many legislators had not submitted bills for the purchase of computers. Notices had been served asking them to submit the bills. The Government has released Rs. 50,000 to each legislator to buy a computer.

    Disqualification plea

On the petition filed seeking the disqualification of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and 38 Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs after the group joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party and formed a coalition government last February, the Speaker said he would hold hearings on the matter on February 3.

The MLAs G.V. Srirama Reddy (CPI-M), S. Rajendran (RPI) and Vatal Nagaraj (Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha) submitted the disqualification petition before the Speaker.
