HYDERABAD : Striker Rijuta Mullick scored a hat-trick to fashion Uttar Pradesh's emphatic 8-0 win over Karnataka in the final league match of the Y.S. Jayamma Rajareddy Trophy eighth Federation Cup women's hockey championship at Government Junior College grounds (Pulivendla, Kadapa) on Tuesday, according to information received here.

Mullick was on target in the 21st, 26th, 29th minutes. Later Ashritha Toppo struck twice by converting penalty-corners in the first session.

In the second session Vartika Singh joined the scoring spree and also recorded a hat-trick striking in the 45th, 55th and 62nd minutes — the first two being field goals and the last one a penalty-corner conversion.

In another match, Mumbai recorded a 3-1 win over Orissa. Ranjitha put Mumbai ahead in the 13th minute and within five minutes Chanchal was in the scoring act. Sadhana Singh netted the third goal in the 36th minute. Kishan reduced the margin for Orissa in the 34th minute.

At the end of the league phase, Railways and Madhya Pradesh from Pool A and Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, by virtue of better goal average, from Pool B qualified for the semifinals scheduled for Wednesday.
