Raiphy Gomez shines

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An all-round show by Ranji player Raiphy Vincent Gomez powered Muthoot Ernakulam CC to an eight-wicket win over Cyclebrand Kids CC in the quarterfinals of the 12th Celestial Trophy all-Kerala cricket tournament at the Medical College ground on Tuesday.

Raiphy took six for 13 including a hat-trick to bundle out Kids CC for 127 in 25 overs. Raiphy then stroked an unbeaten 44 to guide Muthoot CC to a comprehensive win.

Harisree Masters drubbed Eldardo (Kozhikode) by 129 runs to enter the quaterfinals. The highlights of Masters' win were a fine knock by S.S. Shine (85) and a good spell of bowling by Sooraj (six for 18).

The scores:

Cyclebrand Kids CC 127 in 25 overs (Sambasiva Sarma 54, Madan Mohan 25, Raiphy Vincent Gomez six for 13) lost to Muthoot ECC 131 for two in 20.3 overs (Pradeep 51, Raiphy Vincent Gomez 44 not out).

Harisree Masters CC 199 for seven in 30 overs (S.S. Shine 85, T. Saji 48 not out) bt Eldardo (Kozhikode) 68 in 13.2 overs (Basith 34, Sooraj six for 18, Aneesh three for 30).

ONGC retains title

ONGC defeated BPCL by four wickets to retain the title in the PSPB inter-unit veterans cricket tournament in Kochi on Tuesday

The scores:

Final: BPCL 155 in 25 overs (Padam Shastri 46, Ashwin Talti 45, G.K. Amin four for 12) lost to ONGC 157 for six in 24 overs.

Loser's final: IOCL 122 for six in 20 overs (Ansari 69) lost to HPCL 124 for two in 15 overs (Usman Sheikh 55 n.o).
