THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Sports Council has invited application from indigent sportspersons for distributing pension for the year 2006-7. The pension scheme is applicable to former sportspersons and Kalaripayattu artists (aged 55 and above) whose annual income is below Rs.20,000. The eligibility criterion for above-65 sportspersons is representation in inter-District or State-level competitions. For above-60, they should be medal winners in inter-District or State-level competitions. For those who are aged 55 and above, they should have participated in national or inter-university competitions. For Kalaripayattu artists (above-55), they should be medal winners in State and inter-District competitions. In case artist aged 60 and above, the eligibility criteria is participation in State and inter-dist. competitions. Those interested should submit their application with attested copy of their merit certificates, income certificate from village office and proof of age, to the secretary, Kerala State Sports Council, Thiruvananthapuram before February 10. A copy of the application form with relevant documents should be forwarded to the secretary of the District Sports Council.
