KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode District Video Library Association has demanded that the Government take immediate steps to help video libraries in the State to function legally. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, association general secretary E.K. Ashok Kumar and secretary C.K. Vijayan said that the Government was harassing video library owners in the name of raids to seize fake CDs. Police officials were in the dark on whether a CD was fake or original. Because of this, video libraries across the State had to shut down. Nearly 25,00 libraries owners and the families of those working in these shops were unable to meet their livelihood because of this. Video libraries were functioning in the State for the last 25 years. Various companies had distributed the copyright of more than 1000 films that had been released. But the attempt to portray CDs that had been brought out after scrupulously following all procedures as fakes was in fact an irony.
