HYDERABAD: Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana said on Tuesday that the Government was striving to provide all facilities and redress grievances of RTC workers. In tune with its election promise the Congress Government had reduced the motor vehicle tax on APSRTC buses and reimbursed the corporation for the concessions it was giving to different sections. The Minister was speaking at a function held to present awards to APSRTC drivers and mechanics for their performance. APSRTC Managing Director V. Dinesh Reddy said the corporation was planning to enhance incentives for the best drivers and mechanics. The efforts put in by the staff during Sankranti ensured that the corporation earned a record revenue by plying additional services. The Minister gave away awards to the best drivers for 2005-06. T.Sowri (Tenali depot), K.P.C.Rao (Madhira), G.S.S.Rao (Srikakulam-II), D.V.S.Reddy (Jammalamadugu) and K.A.Raju (Maddilapalem) received the awards for having secured the first five positions in effecting maximum saving of high speed diesel. Sudhakar Rao, HPCL General Manager, and Jayakrishnan, Deputy General Manager, among others, were present.
