HYDERABAD: The Departmental Promotion Committee for IAS officers, headed by the Chief Secretary J. Hari Narayan, cleared promotions to about 40 IAS officers in a single go after a meeting here on Tuesday. As a result, 17 out of the 19 IAS officers of the 1983 batch will now become principal secretaries. All the 14 IAS officers of the 1991 batch, now functioning as additional secretaries, will be promoted to the next cadre -- Secretary to Government. Among them is K. Prabhakar Reddy, Additional Secretary to Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. About 10 IAS officers of the 1996 batch have been promoted to additional secretary rank from the joint secretary cadre. The Government will shortly issue orders effecting these promotions, a senior official from the General Administration Department said.
