ONGOLE: In the second incident in less than a week, Maoists shot dead a Youth Congress leader, Lakireddy Ranga Reddy, at Lakshmipuram village in Ardhaveedu mandal of Prakasam district on Tuesday, branding him a `police informer.' According to the police, a team of eight armed naxals came to Lakshmipuram at 7.30 a.m. and accosted Ranga Reddy working in his fields and shot him dead. Mr Ranga Reddy (32) was the mandal president of the Youth Congress. Lakshmipuram is the native village of Sagar, a member of the district committee of CPI (Maoist). On Friday night, Maoists shot dead a TDP sympathiser and a farmer, Bonthaiah in Yachavaram village of Ardhaveedu mandal. Maoists killed a former naxalite in November and there have been no violent incidents after that.
