NELLORE: Serious differences have cropped up in the BJP district unit over the graduates' seat in the revived Legislative Council as both senior party leaders -- Acharya Aditya and Amancharla Sankaranarayana, who were denied ticket from the party, refused to withdraw from the contest. Even BJP State president Bandaru Dattatreya's efforts to get the two leaders withdraw from the fray failed, with both of them sticking to their guns. "In fact, both the `rebels' have reportedly demanded that the party should explain as to why it has officially announced the name of D. Radhakrishna Reddy without taking all senior leaders into confidence," said a senior BJP leader.
Appeal for support
Mr. Dattatreya, who was here on Monday as part of his campaigning, reportedly met both the senior leaders at an undisclosed placeand appealed to them to support the party's official nominee. However, Mr. Dattatreya made it clear that both of them should withdraw in the backdrop of the party announcing the name of Radhakrishna Reddy for the East Rayalaseema graduate's constituency. Moreover, he reportedly told both of them that the party would utilise their services in a better way if they withdraw from the contest.
