H.K Narayan
HASSAN: Well-known musician and Suguma Sangeetha exponent H.K. Narayan has been selected as president for 5th State Suguma Sangeetha Sammelana being held in Hassan on February 10 and 11 at Kala Bhavan. Over 300 singers from all over the State will participate in the two-day event said Karnataka Suguma Sangeetha Parishat president Y.K. Muddukrishna here on Tuesday. Addressing presspersons here, Y.K. Muddukrishna, its founder president, said earlier Sate conferences were held at Mandya, Shimoga, Chikamagalur and Bellary. Poet G.S. Shivarudrappa, C. Aswath, Shivamogga Subbanna, H.S. Venkatesh Murthy and Sangeetha Nataka Academy chairman Srinivasa Kappanna, members of the consultative committee, recommended the name of H.K. Narayan. He is a senior music artiste and Santha Sishunala Sheriff Prashasti awardee. H.K. Narayan, known for blending traditional and modern music, is the native of Holenarsipur. Mr. Muddukrishna said programmes would be held at the Kala Bhavan in the morning and senior artistes would perform at the stadium in the evening. Eminent singers Shimogga Subbanna, B.K. Sumithra, Ratnamala Prakash, C. Aswath will participate.
