BELLARY: The Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) will host the eleventh Annual State Conference of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists, Karnataka Chapter, at its campus here on January 27. P.S. Prabhakaran, vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) will inaugurate the conference at the Microbiology hall at 9.30 a.m. Ramanand Shetty, director of Medical Education, S.S. Harsoor, principal, VIMS, B.K. Srinivas Murthy, T. Ramanath, leading physicians, Pompanagowda, leading surgeon, S.J.V. Mahipal are among the chief guests. Khaja Naseeruddin, director, VIMS will preside.
Delegates
Over 250 delegates from all over the State would be participating in the conference. Experts would be presenting as many as 35 papers on various aspects of microbiology. There will be two guest lectures on Neurocysticercosis by A. Chandramukhi, professor and head, Department of Neuromicrobiology, NIMHANS, and Japanese Encephalitis by V. Ravi, professor and head, Department of Neurovirology, NIMHANS. A continued medical education programme will be held on Friday, for the benefit of postgraduate students. Several experts would be presenting papers on the occasion, according to V. Ravikumar, president of the association.
