Annual event which teases grey cells

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: From its initiation as the first national quiz on architecture in the year 2002, Archumen has come to be recognised as an annual event that teases and tests the grey cells.

Recognised as a platform for providing architects, architects-to-be and the masses with information on architecture, Archumen is organised as a four-zone event culminating in a national finale.

The Northern interface of the Ultratech Archumen 06 will be hosted at IIT Delhi this Thursday.

This year, Archumen will offer students a chance to prove their mettle at `Bending Movements', a maiden quizzing event for students of civil engineering.

Battling it out for the top slot will be architecture and civil engineering students from colleges in Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

The top two teams will find themselves competing with the best in the country at the grand finale.

To be hosted by well-known quiz master Balasubramaniam also known as "Pick Brain", the quiz is actively supported by the Indian Institute of Architects through its Young Architects Committee.

This is the first time the quiz will focus on civil engineering and is being supported by the Civil Engineering Society of IIT Delhi.

While the national champions will walk away with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 for each of the events, the national runners-up and second runners-up will take home Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. Regional winners will receive a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2000.

Started by Ethos, a group that aims at creating awareness about architecture, Archumen has become a part of the annual calendar of students of architecture. -
