Mahasamprokshanam

Chennai : The Maha Samprokshanam celebrations of the Arulmigu Madhavaperumal Temple, Mylapore will begin on January 25 at 5 p.m. The Yaga Pujas will be conducted on 26, 27 and 28. On January 29, the Maha Samprokshanam will take place between 9.30 a.m. to 10.15 a.m. The temple has been constructed in Mayurapuri, now called Mylapore, in the place where the Ashram of Bhrigu Muni existed once. The old name of Madhavapuram was still available in the village records in the area and the BSNL tower in the place as called Madhava Perumalpuram.

The temple towers and the tank called Santhana Pushkarani have been renovated at a cost of Rs. 80 lakh given by devotees. The flooring of the temple has now been replaced with granite slabs.
