ADILABAD: C. Ramchander Reddy, Adilabad MLA, on Tuesday demanded consideration of individual village as the unit for a `rational' and `justifiable' delimitation of Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies. He said he would file objections to the proposed delimitation of his constituency which envisages delinking of two of the five mandals from it. The criterion of representation based on population hardly proved to be the justification for de-linking Tamsi and Talamadugu mandals from Adilabad and attaching them to Boath constituency, he added. Giving his opinion on the draft on delimitation published on Monday, the MLA said though the two mandals were geographically contiguous to Boath constituency, it still did not warrant their de-linking from Adilabad. Quoting examples, he said some of the villages in Adilabad mandal like Waghapur would be surrounded by mandals in Boath constituency in case the proposal comes through. In order to avoid such occurrences it was necessary for villages to be taken as units for the purpose of delimitation.
