Seminar

CHENNAI: The Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be organising a seminar on `Kaizen', as part if its series on Japanese management techniques, on January 27 at the Chamber's office at 21, K. B. Dasan Road, Teynampet, Chennai-18.

The seminar will be led by V. Rajagopalan, faculty, Madras Institute of Technology.

Kumbabhishekam

A `Noodana Asthabandana Maha Kumbabhishekam' will be conducted at Arulmigu Ari Valampuri Vinayagar Alayam in Mogappair on Wednesday for an hour from 10.15 a.m. Devotees can send contributions through cheques/drafts drawn in favour of the temple and payable at Chennai.

Yoga course

The Shiv Darshan Yoga Vidyalaya, a unit of Bihar School of Yoga, is organising a three-day free `Yoga Nidra and Meditation' course from January 27. The course focuses on the systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Contact 26692021.

NSS award

The Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, has been selected for the Indira Gandhi National NSS award for 2005-06 at the university/directorate-level. Programme coordinator V. Seetharaman received the award from Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekawat on January 12, at the inaugural ceremony of XII National Youth Festival held in Pune. The award consists of Rs. 1 lakh towards programme development, a scroll and a citation.

Eye, dental camps

Singhvi Charitable Trust organised a free eye and dental camps at Marakkanam on January 21. A team of doctors examined 285 patients. Free eyeglasses were given to 121 patients and 19 persons were identified for cataract surgery, which would be performed free at Sankara Nethralaya.
