Monisha memorial dance today

KOCHI: On the 36th birth anniversary of the late dancer and film actor Monisha Unni, her mother Sreedevi Unni will present a dance feature named `Matruspandanam' at Fine Arts Hall here on Wednesday evening. Staged by Monisha Arts, which has been set up in honour of the actor who died in a car accident in 1992, the dance feature is based on `Gandhari Vilaapam' in the Stree Parvam of Ezhuthachan's Mahabharatam. Ms. Unni said `Matruspandanam' was her way of giving artistic expression to her own sense of loss of her only daughter.— Special Correspondent

Passengers allege ill-treatment

NEDUMBASSERY: Passengers of an Indian flight from Goa on Tuesday alleged ill-treatment by the airline authorities after the flight which was scheduled to land at the Cochin International Airport was diverted to Chennai, reportedly on account of the expiry of the crew duty time. The Kochi-bound passengers were brought here by the evening flight, IC 973, from Chennai by around 8 p.m.

Eye camp

KOCHI: The Ernakulam city unit of Kerala Brahmana Sabha organised an eye camp at Giridhar Eye Hospital. Free cataract surgery will be done for 30 of the 115 people who attended the camp. Dr. Giridhar and Brahmana Sabha secretary P.K. Ramachandran were among those who spoke. — Staff Reporter

Netaji jayanti

KOCHI : The All India Democratic Students' Organisation (AIDSO) observed Netaji jayanti in memory of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. A photo-poster exhibition was organised in this connection. — Staff Reporter
