`Cinderella' to weave magic once again

Staff Reporter

It will be the 1,000th show of the ballet by Prabhath Kalavidaru

BIG DRAW: The ballet, `Cinderella,' is one of the longest running shows in Kannada theatre.

BANGALORE: "Prabhath Kalavidaru" is on the threshold of achieving a milestone. It will present the 1,000th show of its popular ballet, "Cinderella," at Ravindra Kalakshetra at 6.30 p.m. on January 29.

The special commemorative show on the day will also have new music and stage settings.

New lighting techniques

The troupe has incorporated new lighting techniques as well. The improvements, it is hoped, will give the show a contemporary outlook. "Cinderella" was first performed by the organisation in 1977. Then, the performers did not know they were embarking on a long journey.

Sound techniques

It was enough for them if "Cinderella" could mesmerise the audience as the ballet created magic using light and sound techniques that were considered novel. It is one of the longest running shows in Kannada theatre. Prabhath Kalavidaru was set up by Harikatha Vidwan Gopinath Dasaru and his brothers.
