Singer nominated for scholarship

Bhubaneswar: City-based singer Debasmita Kar has been nominated for the coveted Senior Scholarship in Hindustani Classical Music by the Union Ministry of Culture for the year 2007.

She was awarded the Junior Scholarship for 2000-01.

Daughter of BSNL employee and stage artiste Nirmal Chandra Kar and Deepanjali Kar, Debasmita is the disciple of Hindustani Classical maestro and well-known musician Chittaranjan Pani, who is presently working as the Head, Department of Music, BJB College, Bhubaneswar.
