Guwahati: Two youths were killed and another was injured when Central Industrial Security Force jawans fired on them at Geleki in upper Assam's Sivasagar district late on Tuesday night. The Assam Government has ordered a judicial probe into the firing by jawans. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that stern action would be taken against the guilty. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased. The police arrested one jawan. The CISF has deployment in various oil installations of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation in Geleki. The incident sparked an angry protest by residents of Geleki who gheraoed the police station and also blocked roads demanding withdrawal of the CISF from the area. The police said the incident occurred around 11.30 p.m. when the three youths, who were travelling on two motorbikes, had overtaken a vehicle carrying the jawans at Athkhel area under the Geleki police station. Suspected militants of the United Liberation Front of Asom triggered a blast in Tinsukia district on Wednesday. A woman was injured.
