Woman injured in explosion

CHENNAI : A country bomb exploded on Tuesday night at a house in Kodambakkam injuring a woman.

Police said that Fakir Mohideen (52) and his wife Bima Jaan (45) were running a teashop near their house. Their son Syed Mastan had been detained in the Madurai central prison on charges of attempted murder.

Police said that Beevi had been asked by her son to defuse a country bomb hidden in the house. On returning from Madurai, she attempted to drop it in a bucket filled with water in the late night, when it exploded injuring her fingers. She has been admitted to Stanley Hospital.
