BANGALORE: Commissioner of Police Neelam Achuta Rao has taken disciplinary action against 13 policemen attached to the Seshadripuram police station who had staged a demonstration at the station on Monday to protest against a senior officer. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) G.B. Chebbi told The Hindu on Wednesday that two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) Basavarajaiah and Sitharamaiah have been placed under suspension. Nine constables and two head constables have been transferred to other police stations outside the Central division. Meanwhile, a show-cause notice had been issued to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Seshadripuram sub-division) K.R. Surendra Rao, who had allegedly abused ASI Basavarajaiah after he rejoined work on Monday after a week's leave. After Mr. Basavarajaiah told his colleagues that Mr. Surendra Rao had "abused" him, the policemen had gone on a snap strike. Mr. Surendra Rao had been given a week's time to reply to the notice. Asked whether the mass transfer would affect the work at the Seshadripuram police station, Mr. Chebbi said replacement would be provided immediately.
