Zooming in on mafia

The seamy side of Kochi city seems to be inspiring filmmakers.

After Bollywood zoomed in on the underworld stories in Mumbai and registered success at the box office, it is now the turn of Malayali filmmakers to focus on the increasing incidents of criminal activities in Kochi.

Filmmaker T. K. Rajeev Kumar delved into the mafia world through his Jayaram-starrer Ivar. Writer-turned-director B. Unnikrishnan took a step forward and exposed the nexus between politicians and criminals in Smart City.

And director Anwar Rasheed is the latest to join the league. He comes with Chota Mumbai. Mohanlal plays the lead role in the movie, which is shot extensively in Fort Kochi and nearby locations.
