The Regional Science Centre (RSC) and planetarium have benefited due to the ongoing Malabar Shopping Festival in Kozhikode. There was a marked increase in the number of visitors visiting the RSC. "When we took a look at the number of visitors visiting the RSC from December 20, 2006 to January 15, 2007 it is almost double the number of visitors who had visited the centre during the same period last year," says V.S. Ramachandran, project coordinator of the centre. The exhibitions organised as part of the fete have succeeded in wooing visitors to the Land of the Zamorins. The `Embyro,' a two-month long medical exhibition organised by Calicut Medical College in connection with its golden jubilee celebrations, is also drawing a huge crowd. The festival organisers claim that the trade fair at the Swapna Nagari as part has being attracting 30,000 to 40,000 people during the weekends. People have been coming to Kozhikode from neighbouring districts such as Malappuram, Palakkad and Wayanad, the organisers add.
