A date with the Head of the State

Known for having a soft corner for children, President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam has invited children's authors for his fifth At Home function this year.

"His request was co-ordinated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development,'' said Press Secretary to President S. M. Khan.

This is not the first time that he has extended an invitation to writers of children's literature.

They were called for a meeting on Children's Day too this year. Going beyond the most "visible'' writers -- those who write in English as well as Hindi -- invitations have been sent out to writers of different languages across the country. -- Mandira Nayar
