BHEL bags contract

TIRUCHI: Bharat Heavy Electricals has won a contract for setting up two units of 500 MW each at Mejia Thermal Power Station in West Bengal on a turnkey basis. The order has been placed by Damodar Valley Corporation. Slated for synchronisation during the XI Plan, the project will add nearly 24 million units every day to the grid on completion, a major portion of which will be transmitted to Delhi for the Commonwealth Games scheduled in 2010.
