Staff Reporter

They are identified as `Motta' Navaz and Ashok Kumar

KOLLAM: The Kollam police arrested two persons on Thursday on charges of murdering a 30-year-old man, Shameer, near Kollam railway station on January 17. Kollam SP S. Gopinath said the arrests were made by a police team led by the Kollam Dy. SP T. Reghunathan Nair and Circle Inspector of Kollam East police B. Prasannan.

Those arrested were identified as `Motta' Navaz and Ashok Kumar.

The police said Shameer along with the arrested persons was involved in anti-social activities in the vicinity of Kollam Railway Station. He used to allegedly extort money from the duo. Shameer was stabbed by the duo on January 17. He was found by a police team lying in a pool of blood. Though he was rushed to the District Hospital, he died on the way.

The accused were arrested on Thursday afternoon from Vady beach. They will be produced before a court here.
