LONDON: Passengers, due to travel by British Airways on January 30 and 31, have been advised to make alternative arrangements as there would be no BA flights out of Heathrow on Tuesday and Wednesday because of the threat of a strike by its cabin crew. All domestic and European flights to and from Gatwick will also be cancelled, and only up to six of its nine long-haul flights will operate. A total of 1,300 BA flights would be affected on two days. The warning followed the breakdown of talks between BA's management and staff who are protesting against new rules for sick leave. Although BA was still hopeful of a settlement, it said passengers were being advised to make alternative arrangements to avoid last-minute confusion. The airline said it was "deeply sorry'' for the inconvenience to its customers. Passengers booked to travel on Tuesday or Wednesday could claim a refund or have their flights rescheduled without any extra charge.
