Sidhu files nomination, declares assets worth Rs. 11.84 crore

SEEKING RE-ELECTION: Cricketer-turned politician N.S. Sidhu (left) files his nomination paper as BJP's candidate in the Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency in Amritsar on Thursday.

Amritsar: The total moveable and immovable assets of the former cricketer and BJP candidate for Amritsar parliamentary constituency Navjot Singh Sidhu amounted to over Rs. 11.84 crore, according to the affidavit filed by him before the Returning Officer while submitting his nomination.

Discloses all property

Fortythree-year-old Sidhu disclosed all his property including moveable, immovable and cash he possesses and that of his spouse.

According to the affidavit, Mr. Sidhu possesses cash of Rs. 1,50,000, while bank deposits and money invested with the various financial institutions is Rs. 3,07,25,986.60, bonds and debenture valued at Rs. 4,83,26,217, besides other financial instruments, including National Savings Scheme, postal saving certificates and LIC policies of Rs. 13,86,752.

Mr. Sidhu possesses four vehicles — a Toyota Landcruiser valued at Rs. 13,00,000, a Toyota Corella valued at Rs. 11,50,000, one Ambassador car worth Rs. 4,60,000 and an Endeavor car of Ford company worth Rs. 13,40,000.

The former cricketer also has a commercial building in the prime location of Patiala comprising one showroom valued at Rs. 65,00,000 and another commercial building having a value of Rs. 50,00,000.

He also owns commercial buildings valued at Rs. 65,00,000 and also property at a commercial location valued at Rs. 29 lakh, apartments worth Rs. 20 lakh and another building in Patiala worth Rs. 29 lakh as per his affidavit.

Residential houses

He has two residential houses valued at Rs. 60,00,000 and Rs. 70,00,000.

Mr. Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur has Rs. 20,000 cash, bank deposits of Rs. 1,73,360.12, share and debentures of Rs. 92,828 and other financial instruments like savings certificates of Rs. 17,68,543. She owns commercial property also.

She owns jewellery, including diamonds studded with stones weighing 980 gm valued at Rs. 9,21,200 and a diamond ring worth Rs. 3,50,000.

Mrs. Sidhu possesses four showrooms at different places in Patiala worth Rs. 65,00,000, 20,00,000, 36,00,000 and 20,00,000.

Bank deposit

His son Karan Sidhu has bank deposit and deposit in other financial institutions worth Rs. 31,789, bonds and debentures and shares in companies worth Rs. 3,30,828, NSS certificates, postal saving certificates of Rs. 3,00,000 and one Skoda car worth Rs. 22,36,000.

His daughter Rabia Sidhu possesses bank deposit and deposit in other financial institutions worth Rs. 1,04,521.52, bonds and debentures and shares in companies worth Rs. 2,00,000 and other financial instruments like saving certificates of Rs. 3,00,000. — PTI
