Pharmacists seek stock verification

Staff Reporter

To curb theft of medicines and surgical material

KOTTAYAM: The Kerala Government Pharmacists' Association has called for stringent stock verification in Government hospitals and medical college hospitals to check the theft of medicines and surgical material meant for the economically weaker sections of society.

State general secretary K.C. Ajith Kumar said that the Dr. Subhadra Committee, constituted after the theft of medical material from Government Medical College, Kozhikode, had submitted a report to the Government eight years ago. The Government planned to set up a Medical Corporation for the procurement of medical material in the Government hospitals. He said relevant provisions to ensure prior quality assurance of medicines being bought should be incorporated into the Act.
