Congress justifies boycott

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Thursday justified the boycott of the vote of confidence in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, stating that the attitude of Minister Naresh Agarwal was most "shocking."

Asserting that Mr. Agarwal's statement that the Samajwadi Party would win the Assembly polls through all possible means showed the party's intention to win and remain in saddle.

"The trust vote has no meaning since the entire Opposition has staged a walkout protesting against the behaviour and statement of the State Minister," party general secretary Ashok Gehlot told correspondents here.
