HUGE EFFORT: Jain priests perform Jalabhishekha for Lord Parshwanath and other Teerthankaras at Varur near Hubli on Thursday.
HUBLI: A large number of devotees from across the country took part in the Jalabhishekha held as part of the twelve-day Mahamastakabhishekha of Bhagavan Parshwanath Teerthankar and eight other teerthankars at Navagraha Teertha, Varur near Hubli on Thursday. The 9009 Kalasha Abhishekha began after Dharmasthala Dharamadhikari Veerendra Heggade poured holy water on the 61-ft monolithic statue of Bhagavan Parshwanath Teerthankar amidst chanting of shlokas by Jain saints and devotees shouting slogans in praise of the teerthankars. Jain saints and devotees then took turns to pour holy water on the statues of all the nine teerthankarsthat have been installed on planet like structures.
The main ritual of the Mahamastakabhishekha would be begin on Friday morning and will conclude with Puspharchane in the evening.
