KOZHIKODE: The CIESCO Library, functioning under the aegis of the cultural organisation CIESCO at Kuttichira here, has completed 50 years of its existence. The library was established on November 1, 1956, when the State of Kerala also came into existence. The library was affiliated to the Kerala Grandhashala Sangam in 1957. Now, the library which has membership of the Kerala State Library Council is an `A' grade one. It has been receiving maximum grant from the council. It also receives aid under various schemes from the Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata. A literacy campaign, mobile library, textbook library, reference library, Forest Department books, and children's corner have been some of the initiatives of the library in these 50 years.
