"Threatening calls from Afzal's friends"
|
NEW DELHl:
Chairman of the All-India Anti-Terrorist Front, Maninderjit Singh Bitta, has sought increased security cover claiming he had been getting threat calls.
A letter had warned him of dire consequences for demanding implementation of the death sentence awarded to Afzal Guru in the Parliament attack case, he said.
In a letter to Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Mr. Bitta said threat calls on his mobile came from Dubai, Muscat and Saudi Arabia. Identifying himself as Afzal's friend, one of the callers allegedly threatened Mr. Bitta of dire consequences on January 9.
Stating that he had also been getting numerous blank calls on his mobile phone, Mr. Bitta sought a thorough investigation into the matter to trace those making the calls.
