JD (U) president Sharad Yadav addressing a press conference in Patna on Thursday.
Patna: Refusing to be drawn into any controversy over George Fernandes' reported move to revive the Samata Party, Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav said on Thursday that he "is still with us and continues to be the NDA convenor". Reacting to reporters' queries about reports of Fernandes' involvement in reviving the almost defunct Samata Party, Yadav said, "So far as I know he did not participate in the meeting convened by some disgruntled elements in New Delhi on Sunday." Terming Fernandes as a senior leader of the JD(U), Yadav added, "I must clarify that George continues to be the NDA convenor and he is with us." He, however, said, "Hum kisi ke dil ke baat nahin jante (I do not know what is there in somebody's heart)." "We have an association of more than 30 years and he is our old respected leader," he added. Yadav said a section of disgruntled party leaders, including Shiv Kumar, suspended JD(U) MLA Chedi Paswan and former party MP from Bihar Arun Kumar, had participated in the meeting on Sunday chaired by Samata Party president and former Bihar MP Brahmanand Mandal. "I do not take notice of former leaders," Yadav said. PTI
