BANGALORE: Vatal Nagaraj, Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha MLA, staged a walkout during the Governor's address to the joint session of the legislature demanding the implementation of the Mahajan Commission report on the border dispute and the inclusion of Kerala's Kasaragod district in Kerala in the State. As soon as the Governor began his speech, Mr. Nagaraj shouted slogans against the Government for the delay in implementing the recommendations of the Mahajan Commission, the Sarojini Mahishi Committee report on providing jobs to Kannadigas, announcing a special package for the development of border areas and making the wearing of helmets compulsory for two-wheeler riders. Mr. Nagaraj, who was holding a black flag, then staged a walkout. He said his party had decided to stage a rail-roko agitation on February 11 demanding that the Centre and the State Government take steps to implement the Mahajan Commission report. Manohar Kallappa Kinekar and Digambar Yeshawanthrao Patil of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti also staged a walkout demanding the merger of Belgaum with Maharashtra.
