Congress MLA ends fast

BANGALORE: The Congress MLA Shivananda Patil on Thursday ended his two-week fast.

This followed Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy's assurance that an inquiry would be ordered into alleged irregularities in the affairs of Sri Shivakumar Swamy Sugar Factory and Sri Siddeshwara Cooperative Bank at Indi in Bijapur district.

Mr. Patil was on fast at the Legislator's Home here demanding the inquiry.

The Chief Minister went to the Legislator's Home and offered fruit juice to the fasting MLA.

Later, Home Minister M.P. Prakash said the Government had issued an order appointing the Bijapur Deputy Commissioner administrator of the sugar factory and the bank.
