Bangalore: Souharda Karnataka has sought a ban on Virat Hindu Samajotsava celebrations being held in various parts of the State. S.Y. Gurushant of the communal amity forum has said that samajotsava celebrations being organised by the Sangh Parivar are creating communal unrest through provocative slogans, banners and speeches. The proposed event in Mangalore on Sunday is particularly dangerous since it would aggravate the already fragile communal situation. The forum has called upon heads of various religious groups to not participate in them since they are "not religious in nature and are being held for narrow political gains."
Probe sought
The forum has also demanded a judicial inquiry into the recent communal violence in Shivajinagar here. It has said that victims should get adequate monetary compensation and medical treatment. The Janata Dal (S)-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition government had failed to control the situation, the forum has alleged. The real culprits responsible for the violence should be booked and all false cases lodged against innocent people should be dropped, it has said.
