INAUGURATION: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi inaugurating the Kannikaparameswari temple at Arsikere in Hassan district on Thursday.

HASSAN: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi has lauded the social service done by the Vysya community across the country. "They are a role model in building an adarsha samaj," he said.

He was speaking after the inauguration of the Kannikaparameswari Temple

at Arsikere, 45 km from Hassan, on Thursday.

The Governor was happy to know that people of the community had demolished an old structure and constructed a new temple in Hoysala architectural style there by mobilising funds from among themselves. "This will be a great "prerana" to others," he said.

"Ahimsa, satya and sauhardathe form the basis of a model society. If we adopt these, the country will go forward," he said.

Referring to the Vysya community, he said, "they are the best donors. They always respond to the welfare of society," he said.

President of Arya Vysya Community Durgappa Shetty and architect Sathyanarayana Gupta who supervised construction of the temple were honoured by the Governor.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Guruji of the Art of Living Foundation was the chief guest.

`We firmly believe in "Vasudeva Kutumbam". We are all one. Society alone can do good things. Let there be sanghatan for good work. Only then will the society go forward," he said.

The guruji lauded the community for construction of the temple. Higher Education Minister D.H. Shankaramurthy said that the Vysya community always followed what it preached. It was known for its communal harmony, and for donating for a good cause, he added.
