THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) is focusing on completing the processing of over 43 lakh pending job applications and ensuring that the vacancies reported by the Government departments and public sector institutions are filled as early as possible, PSC chairman K.V. Salahuddin said here on Thursday. Addressing a press conference, he said 5.58 lakh applications dated back to 2004 while 6.27 lakh applications were received in 2005 and 31.25 lakh in 2005. The PSC hopes to clear this backlog and complete the procedures connected with publishing the rank lists during the course of this year. Last year, 11,448 candidates received appointment orders to 339 posts. The Government and public sector institutions had reported 30,408 vacancies last year. The PSC has decided to allow candidates to submit their applications till February 28 for all the posts to which the last date of receiving applications was announced as January 17, he said. The golden jubilee celebrations of the PSC are scheduled to conclude on Saturday. Mr. Salahuddin said Governor R.L. Bhatia would, at the valedictory function of the golden jubilee celebrations, launch the PSC's online system for receiving applications.
