ANANTAPUR: The District Congress Committee (DCC) has said that the provocative speeches of Telugu Desam leaders at the Wednesday's commemorative meeting of Paritala Ravindra at Venkatapuram in the district were distasteful and irresponsible. Talking to newspersons here on Thursday DCC president P. Venugopal Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson T. Kavitha, Singanamala legislator S. Sailajanath, DCC vice- president T. Bhaskar Reddy and others said such speeches might lead to frenzy situations. The remarks of former Minister N. Janardhan Reddy would not stand in good stead. If the TDP had no faith in a premier investigating agency like the CBI, it meant that it had no faith in the law of the land and this amounted to insulting the Constitution, Mr. Venugopal Reddy said. He appealed to the TDP leaders not to breach peace by instigating factional leaders. Such attempts would always end up in sacrifice of innocents, he felt. The Congress party would have no objection if the TDP ordered a fresh probe into Paritala Ravindra murder, if it were to wrest power in the next elections, he said.
Charge refuted
The DCC president also condemned the remarks leaders against Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy accusing him of getting Paritala Ravindra eliminated. There was no need for Dr. Reddy to have any enmity with Ravindra. Ordering a CBI probe within 24 hours of facing allegations from the TDP that his son and a Minister were behind the killing was ample proof of his sanity, Mr. Venugopal Reddy stated. However, the allegations were proved vindictive once the CBI gave them clean chit after a probe. The DCC president also warned of serious consequences if anybody tried to thwart the works of capacity expansion of Pothireddypadu head regulator.
