ELURU: The West Godavari Zilla Parishad has approved the annual budget for 2007-08 with a surplus of Rs 1.61 crore at its general body meeting here on Thursday. The Zilla Parishad is expected to accrue the revenues to the tune of Rs. 26.30 crore from different sources and incur an expenditure of Rs. 24.7 crore under the different heads during the financial year. It is programmed to allocate Rs. 3.21 crore for rural water supply and sanitation, Rs. 3.41 crore for the maintenance of roads and Rs. 1.42 crore and Rs. 57 lakh for undertaking developmental works in the areas inhabited by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes respectively. An allocation of Rs. 1.62 crore has been earmarked for women child welfare and Rs. 2.43 crore for school education. A little over Rs. 4.8 crore is expected to be spent for salaries to the Zilla Parishad employees, pensions and maintenance of the Zilla Parishad office and the ZP buildings.
