ELURU: The Zilla Parishad members, cutting across the political lines, on Thursday targeted the official machinery for the alleged irregularities in distribution of ration cards and the essential commodities to the people below the poverty line through the public distribution system. Congress MLA from Chintalapudi Ghanta Muralirama Krishna said the endeavour of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was that there should not be any family without either the pink or white card in the State. But the end-result pertaining to the ration card distribution seemed running counter to the government's objective, he regretted. There were instances where the poor people were given the pink cards and the rich got white cards.
