BHUBANESWAR: Massive security arrangements have been made for the Republic Day celebrations across the State, especially in naxalite-hit regions. According to the Bhubaneswar police, as many as 25 platoons of security personnel and a large number of police officials would be deployed in the State capital. Several close-circuit cameras have been fixed at the parade venue. A total of 87 organisations such as different wings of the police, the National Cadet Corps and various schools will participate in the parade that will start 8.30 a.m.
Appeal to people
The authorities have appealed to people to hoist the tri-colour with all respect. Security has been tightened in the naxalite-affected regions and the district headquarters towns where the Ministers are scheduled to hoist the flag. However, no Minister is scheduled to attend the Republic Day function in the headquarters town of four districts such as Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Gajapati that are badly affected by the naxalite violence.
