Sagar main canal breached

Heavy loss of paddy crop feared

NALGONDA: Some 2,000 acres of paddy crop reportedly got damaged following a breach on the Nagarjuna Sagar main left canal here on Thursday.

According to reports reaching here, the main canal was breached at 107-kilometre point, near Ponugodu village between Garidepalli and Chilkur mandals. The canal was flowing with 11,000 cusecs of water at the time. The water began leaking since morning and by evening, a 66-feet wide cleft was created on the canal.
