Merchant robbed of Rs. 4.27 lakh

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A 15-member gang robbed a jewellery merchant of Rs. 4.27 lakh near Madralli Gate in Gundlupet police station limits on Tuesday.

The police said Mr. Ashraff along with his friends was travelling by a car to Kozhikode via Gundlupet after selling gold in Bangalore. The gang members were following Mr. Ashraff in a car. They overtook Mr. Ashraff's car and forced its driver to stop at Madralli village near Gundlupet. Armed with iron rods, the gang members attacked Mr. Ashraff and his friends Razak and Zuber and took away Rs. 4.27 lakh.

The police said that the car used by the gang was found abandoned at Veeraiahanapura in Punajanoor forest limits. Investigation is on.
