CHENNAI: A strong political will and concerted efforts are needed to effectively implement the rules of the Coastal Regulation Zone, according to S. Balaji, Chief Conservator of Forests. He was speaking on "Integrated Costal Zone Management Plan" at a workshop on "Coastal Regulation Zone Issues," organised by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and the Directorate of Environment. He highlighted the importance of geo-morphological aspect in the coastal zone management. K.S. Neelakantan, Director of Environment, who inaugurated the workshop, explained the features of the 1991 CRZ Notification. The workshop was aimed at creating awareness among stakeholders.
