London: The visa application of reality television star Jade Goody, who is planning to visit India after facing massive public backlash for her alleged racial comments against Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, is under being processed, an Indian High Commission official said on Thursday. Ms. Goody had applied for an Indian visa as part of a charm campaign to make up for her bigoted tirade against Ms. Shetty on U.K.'s reality television series Celebrity Big Brother, which sparked off an international row. The official also refuted reports in a section of the press that Ms. Goody's goodwill trip to India was in doubt after officials blocked her application. A report in The Sun claimed that 25-year-old Ms. Goody had planned to head for the sub-continent next week to apologise for her racist remarks. "Jade applied for a visa on Monday along with her security team and aides but she was the only one not to have been granted passage," the report claimed.
Apology on the web
Quoting sources, the tabloid said it might take up to a week for her to get a visa and she could even be banned from going. Advisors for housemate Danielle Lloyd, who also allegedly bullied Ms. Shetty on the show, have posted an apology for her behaviour on her website.
"She will be cured"
Tourism Minister Ambika Soni on Thursday told NDTV that Ms. Goody would be "cured" when she visited India. PTI
