Coimbatore: In view of the construction of a new goods shed at Irugur, non-interlocked working of trains will be introduced at Irugur station from January 29 to February 3, a release from the Southern Railway - Palakkad Division said.
Hand signals
Non-interlocked working of trains required movement of trains at slow speed with hand signals instead of automatic ones. As a result, there would be changes in the train service schedule on January 29 and 31 (no change on January 30). On January 29 and 31, Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Express (train no: 6607) would run via Irugur and Podanur without touching Peelamedu and Coimbatore North Junction. On reaching Podanur, the train would go to the Coimbatore Junction from where it would proceed in the normal route to Mangalore. On January 29, Dhanbad - Alleppey Express (3351) was likely to be delayed. On January 31, Bangalore - Coimbatore Express (2677) would run via Podanur.
Delay
Dhanbad - Alleppey Express (3351), Alleppey-Dhanbad Express (3352), Chennai - Coimbatore Kovai Express (2675) and Coimbatore - Chennai Kovai Express (2676) were likely to be delayed while passing through Irugur.
