Man held for stealing cheque, encashing it

HYDERABAD: Taniel Hudson, who allegedly stole Rs. 5-lakh cheque when he went to a bank and encashed it by opening an account in another bank with fictitious documents, was arrested by the Banjara Hills police on Thursday.

A private company employee, Hudson went to UCO bank in Banjara Hills on some work on November 7. He happened to see a cheque for Rs. 5 lakhs lying on a table and walked out with it. The cheque was in the name of a bank employee Aarthi.

According to Banjara Hills police Inspector E. Shankar Reddy, Hudson added the letters `yesh' to the name Aarthi on the cheque. He opened an account in Indian Overseas Bank in the name of `Aarthiyesh,' deposited the cheque and withdrew the entire amount. An amount of Rs. 4.7 lakhs was recovered from his house in Khairatabad.
